GIVEAWAY! Calling All Cinderellas

Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m not only In Love. I’m In Lust.

content_Fall-Accessories-2With a pair of shoes.

Purple velvet jeweled heels, to be exact, from the incomparable Dolce & Gabbana. Flipping through Gotham magazine, it was lust at first sight.  I mean, just look at this photo. How can you not…Want…Those? They’re seriously gorgeous, Cinderella worthy.

These shoes are so on my Wish List–and at a smidgen under $3K, they’re going to have to stay there.

Along with the hefty price tag, think of all the “incidental” costs associated with owning them. No way would I walk the NYC streets with these on my feet. The mere thought of dinging that fragile, gilded window of a heel on a curb back has me cringing. Ditto for talking the Subway or hailing a cab. What if there was–gasp–a splash! Nope, it would have to be Uber all the way. Come to think of it, my own coach–I mean car–and driver would be all kinds of better.

What totally impractical item do you covet?

Tweet me your comment @HopeTarr #SuddenlyCinderella, and you may win a copy of OPERATION CINDERELLA, the launch to my #Suddenly Cinderella contemporary fairytale series, optioned for feature film by FOX. (There is another fab pair of shoes passed among the Cinderella heroine of each book).

*Winner selected randomly from among the first 20 people to comment on Twitter using #SuddenlyCinderella.

A Suddenly Cinderella Night on Broadway

Broadway Theatre Marquis#2_Jan_28_2013For Christmas, my boyfriend surprised me with two tickets to see Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Broadway. It was such a great gift! Along with loving all things to do with the fairytale, I have fond childhood memories of watching the annual televised broadcast of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical with a very young, very lovely Leslie Ann Warren in the title role.

Last night I took a break from working on revisions for Project Cinderella to attend the performance at the Broadway Theater. The music, cast, costuming, and set design were all fabulous. In addition to cherished numbers such as “In My Own Little Corner,” “Ten Minutes Ago,” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful” ((sigh)), there were some new-to-me songs that had been cut from the shortened TV version. There was also some updating of the storyline, notably Cinderella persuading the prince to permit democratic voting and then voting herself.

Cinderella as suffragette — why not? <g>

At the play’s end and after the cast took its final bow, “Prince Topher” called a couple up on stage. The gentleman, a NYPD officer, had arranged in advance to propose to his long-term girlfriend onstage–and on bended knee, of course. That he did surrounded by a glittering cast and a rapt audience, including several friends holding up signs, “Will you marry me?”

Play Sign_with glass slipperRaj&Hope_Bway Theatre_Jan_28_2013Happily she said yes. 🙂

It just goes to show that Happily Ever After beginnings aren’t just the stuff of storybooks. They happen in Real Life, too!

Glass slippers are so back–indeed!

Operation Cinderella HEA Release Week!

October has been a good month for me, a very good month.

Off the bat, October 2nd was my birthday!

October 2nd was also the Blu-ray DVD release of Walt Disney’s “Cinderella,” my foremost favorite among the animated fairy tale film classics!!

And October 15th was the release for OPERATION CINDERELLA, the launch of my new “Suddenly Cinderella” contemporary series for Entangled Publishing!!!

Currently the book is available for download, $2.99, on Amazon & Barnes & Noble with additional e-tailer links coming soon…

Reviews will be rolling in over the coming weeks and months but for now please join me in celebrating this scrumptious cover quote I received from #1 New York Times Bestseller and Lady Jane Salonâ„¢ guest author, Susan Wiggs:

“This is not your mother’s Cinderella story. Hope Tarr’s rendition is funny, sassy and sexy, a fast-paced treat that strikes all the right notes. I loved it!” –Susan Wiggs

Many thanks, Susan, and thanks to all of you, my readers, who’ve patiently waited for my next contemporary romances to be born.

Happily Ever After–it’s about time, don’t you think!?!

As always, with warmest wishes for fairy tale dreams come true,

Hope

Calling All Shoe-a-Holics: Better a glass slipper than a glass ceiling

Still waiting on all those RWA photos to rush in geyser style but in the interim Alert Blog Watcher and historical romance author, Diane Gaston sent me this link to author Esri Rose’s shoe review.

I met Esri briefly as she worked her way through the throng at RWA’s Saturday night Awards Ceremony dessert reception. Her mission: to snap as many photos of authors’ shoes as she possibly could. I, or at least my feet, are in the White Out Section, third photo down (and just above the really cool Italian glass beaded babies).

Oh, and btw, she’s running a poll so you can vote!

Keeping up with the Cinderella theme, Manhattan is a place where magical moments are happenstance, where expecting the unexpected quickly becomes a way of life. Last night I was savoring a lobster salad at A.O.C. Bistro in the West Village when who walks in but actor Mary-Kate Olsen. Or was it Ashley? Or does it even matter?

What I really want to know is where I can get a pair of those glass slippers.
